Survival Planning

What is the most important stuff to survive a Zombie outbreak?

Here is the main list:

Small backpack with essential equipment in case you gotta make a run for it:
- Water, at least 2 liters to keep you moving until you find more
- Food, at least some snacks to provide energy for your run
- Map, make sure you know where you are going
- Valuables, and I don't mean your big bank account checkbook but something too trade with survivors like
gold or silver
- Torch, available in various sizes. I would propose a small hand-held version and maybe a head lamp.
Make sure they come with red or blue light filters to avoid being spotted too easily because of a bright light.
Also have enough batteries.
- Multi-tool to fix, repair, improvise
- A photo of your loved ones. In challenging times it's good to remember the sane world to keep your mind
from falling apart
- Any personal medication or spare glasses should be available
- Copies of important documents or better the original could be helpful if officials in sheltered areas try to
bring things in order again. You would know after a couple of days if this is still necessary to carry...

Weapon(s)

- As there wont be any firearms readily available, you gotta make your own
- It has to be effective and suitable for you personally
- A steel pipe, club or wooden stick might have to do. Build a spear with a broom and a knife or icepick for
distance to the dead
- Tools can be suitable weapons e.g. if you have a construction site nearby you might find a axe, heavy chain or
a shovel

Water
- You can't survive without fluid supply for too long.
- Luckily rain is plenty in Singapore but you will not always have a chance to catch rain
- You should calculate with at least two liters per person per day. This does not include water for washing or to
flush the toilet
- Stocking up on water is essential for survival.
- The stock of drinkable liquids in a typical household in Singapore lasts not longer than 1 week, probably less.
- If you run out of water you have to leave the safety of your hideout, a potential risk to your life.

Food
- Although food supply is important you can go over longer periods without a bite than without water
- It would be an advantage to have food that can be eaten cold and doesn't go bad too fast. So stock some
canned stuff

First aid kit
- Make sure you are able to handle small injuries yourself, a doctor would not be available

Clothing
- Now this is difficult. What to wear? It should be comfortable and tear resistant clothing
- Reliable boots, the higher the shaft, the better, would give a good base. Make sure they are worn in to avoid blisters
- Pant's could be anything tough. Jeans make sense although they wouldn't protect from bites
- A shirt with long arms is good, although your motorbike leather gear would be more protective
- You have to decide on the right clothing for you but remember: You might be wearing the same stuff for
weeks so keep some spare underwear ready

These are the bare essentials and not a complete list. I mean you could go to armored vehicles, diesel generators, petrol dumps and so on but that would be probably too much for most people to be prepared. The main items should be readily available in every household and would be very helpful also in every other disaster like earth quakes or tidal waves.

So....be prepared! Anytime! Anywhere!
